Reconstructions of medical centers across Armenia

A-3 Architects has been entrusted with the reconstruction and modernization of key regional medical centers across Armenia. Commissioned by the World Bank and the Health PIU SA of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia, these projects aim to bring healthcare infrastructure in line with both Armenian building regulations and World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations.

Our team was responsible for the full cycle of design and documentation, from feasibility studies to preliminary and final designs, including:

• Architectural and structural drawings
• Mechanical and electrical engineering solutions
• Medical gases and fire protection systems
• Seismic analyses and sustainability studies
• Technology design for specialized medical departments
• Specifications, bills of quantity, and cost estimations
• Roads and approaches, topography, and geological surveys

During construction, Author’s supervision, preparation of executive acts, and development of as-built drawings were consistently conducted to ensure high-quality delivery.

Key Projects

• Berd Medical Centre
  Reconstruction of the existing facility and construction of a new sub-building. Detailed design of specialized departments including Delivery, Surgery, and Infection units.
• Hrazdan Medical Centre
  Full reconstruction with integration of a BSL-1 class laboratory, Policlinic, and Medical School department. Detailed design of Delivery, Surgery, and Infection departments.
• Ararat Medical Centre
  Reconstruction of the medical facility and the connecting road to the highway. Incorporation of BSL-1 class laboratory, Policlinic, and core medical departments.
• Armavir Medical Centre
  Comprehensive reconstruction, including road connection to the highway, with detailed design for Delivery, Surgery, Infection departments, BSL-1 laboratory, and Policlinic.
• Ijevan Medical Centre
  Reconstruction of the facility and its connecting infrastructure. Scope included Delivery, Surgery, Infection departments, BSL-1 laboratory, and Policlinic.

Impact

These projects significantly enhance Armenia’s healthcare infrastructure by creating safe, modern, and sustainable facilities that comply with international standards. Through close collaboration with the World Bank and the Ministry of Health, A-3 Architects has contributed to the modernization of regional medical services, ensuring that communities across Armenia have improved access to healthcare in facilities designed to meet contemporary medical, technical, and safety requirements.
