Aram Hovhannisyan Celebrates 50th Birthday at the “Arthur Tarkhanyan” Center

Renowned Armenian actor, stage director, and theater director Aram Hovhannisyan recently marked his 50th birthday at the “Arthur Tarkhanyan” Cultural Center, surrounded by family and close friends. His career began as an actor at the Gabriel Sundukyan National Academic Theater in Yerevan, eventually leading him to spend over a decade performing at the Hakob Paronyan State Musical Comedy Theater. Starting in 2006, Hovhannisyan returned to the Sundukyan Theater to embark on his directing career.
Over the years, Hovhannisyan has taken on acting roles in notable productions such as Wanted: A Liar, The National Figure, For Honor, and The Game of Love and Chance. In Paghtasar Aghbar, he portrayed the character Kipar, while in Khatabala, he took on the role of Gevorg Masisyants. He has also given monodrama performances both in Armenia and throughout the diaspora, featuring works like H. Shiraz’s The Armenian Dantean, F. Werfel’s Forty Days of Musa Dagh, P. Zeytuntsyan’s Soghomon Tehleryan, and Manuel Adamyan’s plays Tigran the Great King of Kings, Grigor Narekatsi, and The Great Genocide.
In addition to acting, Hovhannisyan has directed numerous theatrical productions. He worked as a director at the Goris Theater, staging Ajax: A Greek Legend and Musical. He also directed Dinner for Schmucks (“Ընթրիք հիմարի հետ”) and, in 2008, oversaw William Saroyan’s Don’t Go Away Angry at the Vardan Ajemian Drama Theater in Gyumri, serving as both director and stage designer. Among his other directing credits are Khor Virap (radio dramatization), The Woman After the Rain, Love, Money, Devil, and Wolves and Sheep. In commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide, he directed and produced the televised performance April.
Throughout his career, Hovhannisyan has participated in numerous international theater festivals in Armenia, Israel, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, North Macedonia, Albania, Lithuania, and Bulgaria, earning first-place awards and Grand Prix honors. His recent celebration at the “Arthur Tarkhanyan” Cultural Center highlighted his many achievements and brought together the people who have supported him on his creative journey.
