Design and Modernization of Unites Nation Conference Hall in Yerevan, RA
Project Year: 2012
Construction Year: 2012-2013
Client: UNDP Branch in Yerevan-Armenia
Location: Yerevan, Armenia

A-3 Architects was in charge of the interior development, preliminary and final designs for the New Conference Hall for the UN Yerevan Branch. A full set of project documentation was produced in accordance with Armenian regulations: architectural drawings, interior design project, mechanical engineering drawings, electrical drawings, fire protection design, technology design, specifications, bill of quantity, and cost estimation.
The task was to modernize the existing Soviet-style hall into a modern Conference Hall suitable for conducting conferences and meetings with media. The design of the room allows for flexible transformation into two independently functioning spaces, enabling workshops and meetings to be organized simultaneously.
Particular attention was paid to the interior design, as the height was limited to 3 meters and a structural beam measuring 60×60 cm crossed the entire room, supported by two columns that could not be removed due to the seismic and structural design of the building.
Despite these constraints, the new architectural form — with its horizontal divisions and ceiling lighting solutions — created an open, welcoming, and presentable environment that aligns with the philosophy of the United Nations.
During construction, Author’s supervision and preparation of as-built drawings were also conducted by A-3 Architects.
