Goght Eco Resort: A Sustainable Recreation Destination in Kotayk

Our architectural bureau has developed a comprehensive concept for creating a protected recreational zone based on principles of green and sustainable construction. Located in the picturesque hills of the Kotayk region, the project sits on a sprawling 70-hectare plot between Armenia’s historic and tourist centers of Garni and Geghard. At an altitude of 1700 meters, its southern-facing slopes offer breathtaking views of Mount Ararat, creating an ideal environment for year-round rest and relaxation.

The site’s natural advantages, including a constant mountain breeze, clean springs, and fertile land, were the guiding factors in our design. The entire territory is thoughtfully divided into five distinct zones, each tailored to its unique landscape.

Key Features and Zonal Breakdown

1. Main Entrance and Restaurant Zone: The complex is accessed via a main 6-meter-wide road that connects all activity zones. At the entrance, a security checkpoint leads to parking for 64 cars and 6 buses. Situated on a raised platform overlooking an artificial lake, a multi-level restaurant complex offers stunning views. A small, elevated chapel nearby provides a scenic venue for wedding ceremonies.

2. Residential and Swimming Pool Zone: An isolated area of the resort is dedicated to private living. It features 57 cottages and 22 townhouses, each cottage with a spacious plot of approximately 800 square meters. At the heart of this residential zone, a summer swimming pool and its service area are surrounded by various cafes, creating a social hub for residents.

3. Orchard and Pathway Zone: The existing fruit orchards are preserved and integrated into the design. We’ve meticulously laid out bicycle and pedestrian paths that wind between the trees, allowing guests to explore the natural beauty of the landscape without disrupting its integrity.

4. Active Recreation and Camping Zone: Located in the most remote part of the resort, this zone is designed for adventure and sport. It includes a campsite for 55 tents with dedicated shower and restroom facilities. A raised area features cafes, a zipline attraction, a mountain bike descent, a ski slope with a button lift, and courts for football, basketball, volleyball, and tennis.

5. Solar Power and Technical Zone: A key component of our sustainable approach is a dedicated solar power plant designed to meet the entire complex’s electricity needs. This, along with a technical support zone, ensures the resort’s energy independence and minimal environmental impact.

Our primary goal was to preserve the site’s natural beauty and existing orchards. The detailed design process will involve continuous collaboration with the client to ensure every aspect of the project aligns with this vision of creating a truly green and sustainable haven.

Goght Eco Resort Cottages

In the serene and isolated section of the Goght Eco Resort, we’ve designed an exclusive zone of 57 cottages. These cottages are planned for those who seek a private and spacious living environment, where each home sits on a generous plot of approximately 800 square meters.

Each cottage is thoughtfully integrated into the natural landscape, with its design reflecting the resort’s core principles of green and sustainable living. Residents will have direct access to the surrounding natural beauty, with a focus on harmony between the built environment and the scenic orchards. This area is a true haven for those who value tranquility, privacy, and a deep connection with nature.
