The White Book of Architecture Launched: Unveiling Architectural Gems of Armenia

n December 28, 2021, the “Arthur Tarkhanyan” Cultural Center officially launched its “White Book of Architecture.” This initiative was inspired by Armenia’s first invitation to participate in the prestigious European “Ludwig Mies van der Rohe Award.” The aim of the award was to select the best architectural works constructed in Armenia over the past two years.
During the research process, numerous outstanding buildings were identified, deserving of recognition and documentation for future generations. The “White Book of Architecture” was created to fulfill this purpose. According to the organizers, this project will be ongoing, with a committee formed to select the best architectural buildings each year. The “White Book of Architecture” aims to create a comprehensive archive of the country’s finest architectural achievements for at least the next 50 years.
The launch event was attended by Armen Ghularyan, Chairman of the Urban Planning Committee, Gurgen Grigoryan, Chairman of the Armenian Builders Association, Mkrtch Minasyan, Chairman of the Union of Architects of Armenia, as well as architects, builders, and other stakeholders in the field.
This year, the “White Book of Architecture” featured five buildings: Dilijan Central School, Vanadzor Technology Center, KOAF SMART Center, Hover Boutique Hotel and Restaurant, and the Gyumri TUMO Center for Creative Technologies.
