In Dilijan

The Memorial Statue in Dilijan, unveiled in 1970, commemorates the 50th anniversary of Soviet rule in Armenia. Located on a hill in the city center, this monument is a striking example of Soviet modernist architecture and symbolism. Designed by prominent architects Arthur Tarkhanyan, Seiran Avetisyan, and Khoren Vatinyan, the structure uses minimalistic design to convey a powerful narrative of progress and unity.
The monument features five triangular concrete spires arranged to form a star when viewed from above, symbolizing five decades of Soviet governance. The stark white spires rise dramatically into the sky, contrasting beautifully with the lush green hills surrounding Dilijan. This blend of geometry, simplicity, and integration with the landscape has made the monument not only a symbol of the city but also a timeless work of art.
