Founding Tarkhanyan Center

Founding

Tarkhayna Center was founded by the Tarkhanyan family in 2018 under the leadership of Anahit Tarkhanyan, with the mission of preserving Armenian modernist architectural heritage and honoring the legacy of Arthur Tarkhanyan, a renowned architect of Soviet Armenia. Through exhibitions, educational programs, and research initiatives, the Center celebrates Tarkhanyan’s visionary contributions while inspiring future generations to appreciate and advance Armenia’s rich architectural tradition.

Who Was Arthur Tarkhanyan?

Arthur Tarkhanyan (1932–2006) was a pioneering Armenian architect whose visionary designs defined modernist architecture in Armenia. His landmark works include the Youth Palace, Zvartnots Airport, and the Memorial Complex of Armenian Genocide. Over his illustrious career, Tarkhanyan authored numerous urban plans, public buildings, and monuments, leaving an indelible legacy in both architecture and academia. His innovative spirit continues to inspire generations of architects.
